Description: In 2020, wildfires in Colorado burned more acres than the previous 10 years combined. Numerous communities were impacted both during and in the years following these wildfires. One of these wildfires was the Calwood Fire, which started at Calwood Education Center a non-profit environmental educational center.
Engaging shortly after the wildfire, numerous researchers engaged with the center on forest management and ultimately curriculum as Calwood evolved to deal with both the challenges of COVID and a dramatically transformed landscape, with 50% of their property burning.
In this session, we will discuss challenges, success stories, and lessons learned on how to foster meaningful relationships in a time of rapid change.
