Bio:
Desiree Loggins Werlin is from Sacramento, California where she grew up floating on the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers. She has a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Desiree is a researcher, storyteller, and overall curious person. She worked at the National Audubon Society as an organizer and advocate for flowing rivers, working lands, and resilient communities in the arid West. She graduated with a Masters of Science from the Geography and Environmental Studies program at the University of New Mexico where her thesis, “The Nature of Environmental Planning on the Carnue Land Grant” received distinction and is currently working towards her Ph.D. You can read Desiree’s latest personal writing on water, infrastructure, and the passing of time in the anthology, “Water Bodies: Love Letters to the Most Abundant Substance on Earth” published by Torrey House Press.
