To achieve the goals set by TN’s PMP, this project aims to develop learning modules on how to (1) embrace multiple ways of knowing and (2) integrate Indigenous and place-based knowledges.

Objectives:

  • Co-create unified themes amongst TN’s convergent science curricula
  • Co-develop the foundational learning modules on the co-created unified themes convergent science curricula,
  • Share the developed learning modules across the network (at the end of the first year) and beyond (in the future).

Charter Summary:

This project carried out the tasks outlined in 5 Education Implementation and Evaluation Activity 3 Convergent Science Curricula outlined in the project management plan: “Convergent Science Curricula elevates DEI efforts by re-designing course elements that provide social equity and environmental justice frameworks, offering diverse viewpoints from the literature and researchers, demonstrating multiple ways of knowing, co-instructing courses in community partnership with local industry experts, and engaging in antiracist education.” Through two graduate courses (one at the University of New Mexico during the spring 2022 semester and one at Utah State University during the spring 2023 semester), the project focused on (1) strengthening the efficacy of existing courses to provide professional skills; (2) developing and disseminate best practices for education in areas of convergent research and systems thinking; and (3) contributing to a diverse workforce by implementing our DEI plan for student recruitment.
