To achieve the goals set by TN’s PMP, this project aims to develop learning modules on how to (1) embrace multiple ways of knowing and (2) integrate Indigenous and place-based knowledges.
Objectives:
- Co-create unified themes amongst TN’s convergent science curricula
- Co-develop the foundational learning modules on the co-created unified themes convergent science curricula,
- Share the developed learning modules across the network (at the end of the first year) and beyond (in the future).
Charter Summary:
This project carried out the tasks outlined in the Education Implementation and Evaluation and Convergent Science Curricula sections outlined in the project management plan: “Convergent Science Curricula elevates the Netwrok’s efforts by re-designing course elements to broaden participation in STEM, offering a vareity viewpoints from the literature and researchers, demonstrating multiple ways of knowing, and co-instructing courses in community partnership with local industry experts.” Through two graduate courses (one at the University of New Mexico during the spring 2022 semester and one at Utah State University during the spring 2023 semester), the project focused on (1) strengthening the efficacy of existing courses to provide professional skills; (2) developing and disseminate best practices for education in areas of convergent research and systems thinking; and (3) contributing to the workforce by broadening the participation of students recruited and involved.
