Bio:
Claudia Méndez Wright’s research interests in migration, motherhood, gender, education, and consumer culture are informed by her experiences in academia and the private industry. As a qualitative researcher she has worked with various rural, urban, and minority communities who have expanded her interest in understanding the ideologies and social constructions that permeate our beliefs and practices.
Her current research explores migrant motherhood. She am interested in understanding how intersectional identities shape migration trajectories. Other areas of interest include gender gap in higher education, fatherhood, consumption, and healthcare.
Some of the courses that Claudia teaches Central Washington University are: Principles of Sociology, Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Immigration, and Sociology of Family.
